Featuring the beautiful Alexandria through the eyes of poets, painters, and most of all through the eyes of expatriates who take pride in being an Alexandrian citizen. Summary: Basically, the pre-production phase had begun when I was assigned to submit a shooting list that includes all the visual material that, supposedly, will be included in the documentary. Since the settled topic was reviewing Alexandria or another side of Alexandria through the eyes of artists, especially, poets. The topic had to be visually reflected as follows; casting the light on Alexandria’s fascination which had brought miscellaneous artists as well as ordinary people with various ethnicities and nationalities from the whole world to develop undescribed love and belongingness to the city; the feelings they’ve carried to the country will be reflected through the stories and narration of foreign residents, like Greeks, Italians, or Armenians, whom they are still living in Alexandria along with bunch of appealing sceneries for the city’s charm. In order to develop an initial vision of the documentary; I had to travel for location scouting and meetings with foreign residents living in Alexandria. In fact, I intended to visit almost all the old places and streets that are still upholding their vintage style; I took a stroll around the city’s downtown, where the streets’ nameplates, reflect a huge part of the rich history of the ancient city; additionally, I managed to visit various shops, cafes, and restaurants that are owned by Greeks, Italians, and Armenians. In hopes of reaching foreign residents; I managed to visit The Greek embassy, The Greek school, The Greek, Italian, and Armenian community clubs & churches, the Centre d’Etudes Alexandrines (CEAlex), or the Alexandria Center for Studies, along with Saint Catherine cathedral that serves as the main church for almost all the foreign Catholics who live in Alexandria.en_US
