Abstract
The public debt has been representing a serious problem in Egypt during recent years. The
main concern of the paper is to classify the extent of the debt problem in Egypt focusing on
the post -revolutionary period since 2011. In the paper, reasons for the high level of public
debt will be identified. Also, the economic growth performance will be analyzed
simultaneously, then the relationship between both public debt and economic growth will be
determined. Some guidelines for policymakers will be presented in the last section.
