dc.description.abstractThis study discusses a topic of great interest and importance to issues of development as it focuses on the main factors that can lead to prosperity and the relationship that exists between different political settings and economic development. The recent growth that has recently occurred in various countries shows that it is possible to rise out of poverty to relative prosperity. Although the concepts of capitalism, democracy and development are interrelated, there are countless theories on what facilitates development in different countries. While a group of researchers believe that capitalism and democracy lead to development, another group argues that socialism and government control over business leads to progress because in order to reach a high level of growth, government control is needed to ensure capital accumulation.
