dc.description.abstract | Forensic entomology is the study of insects and arthropods in criminal investigation. Right from the early stages insects are attracted to the decomposing body and may lay eggs in it. By studying the insect population and the developing larval stages, forensic scientists can estimate the postmortem index, any change in position of the corpse as well as the cause of death. This study is based on using rabbit’s carcass as an animal model. During this study the rabbit carcasses were compared during different seasons of autumn and winter, in order to detect the effect of weather on the dead body. On the other hand, insect succession was detected during the different seasons of autumn and winter. In addition to another rabbit carcasses were compared based on the cause of death; by comparing between the slaughtering method and the inhalation by using chloroform. As a result, there is a big different between autumn and winter on the decomposition stages and insect succession. Moreover, the different effect of slaughtering and inhalation methods on the time of decomposition stages. Therefore, by using the results of this study, forensic scientists could detect the time of death, season of death, and the reason of death. Finally according to the end of this study, insect succession can be help in determining the location of death, composition of local fauna of area, and the season of death. Therefore, the forensic scientists can base on this study to detect any case of the foundation of unknown carcasses Specifically in Fayoum; in order to detect the time of death, the season of death, and the reason of death | en_US |
