Assessment of pesticides residue in cosmetic henna sold in Egyptian local market Background: Henna is a flowering plant and the sole species of the genus Lawsonia. It is the source of a dye prepared from the plant lawsonia inermis and has been used since antiquity to dye hair, skin and fingernails. Also it is used to dye fabrics like (silk, wool and leather). For this reason, henna should be free from any contaminants such as pesticide residues; and disinfectants used for preventing the spread of pests and bacteria. When concentrations of pesticide residues exceed the permissible level, the risk to human health comes from direct or indirect exposure to pesticide residues in primary or derived agricultural products as it could lead to several potential toxic effects, carcinogenic and biological effects. Aim: The current study evaluated the composition and quality of 24 henna samplesen_US
