Web Matching System for Entrepreneurs and Investors
(October University for Modern Sciences and Arts, 2020) Hassan, Abdallah Abdalaziz Ali
Small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and startups are seen as a key source of economic growth, production and innovation. Nevertheless, the traditional funding sources’ supply, such as bank lending, venture capitals and angel investors, couldn’t fulfil the needed demand, resulting in the financing gap. Over time, several web platforms have come to the fore for the purpose of connecting entrepreneurs and investors together by using different systems, such as faceted search systems (FSSs) and automated investment systems (AISs). The FSSs enable investors to search for the entrepreneurs’ investment rounds by applying multiple facets and filters. The AISs automatically diversify the investors’ investments on multiple companies’ investment rounds created by the entrepreneurs. However, both of these systems have a high failure rate due to the category-driven results of the FSSs in addition to the limited offerings and the high-risk factors of the AISs. For these reasons, the proposed web platform tackles these issues by a newly developed artificial intelligence matching system using machine learning as well as natural language processing as its foundation. In which, the proposed system matches investors, entrepreneurs and partner-seekers together. The system provides intelligent data-driven matches one at a time, while continuously updating the data each time a user refuses or approves a match, leading to more attainable results. In this report, the planning, analysis and design stages of the proposed platform are introduced using the Waterfall software development life cycle (SDLC) model.

    Smart School Bus Monitoring
(October University for Modern Sciences and Arts, 2020) Alaa, Youssef
It is vital for every school to ensure safe transportation of their students to be trustworthy, secure and to gain a good reputation. School administration need to be continuously updated of their student’s situation and avoid any accidents. However, if an accident happen they should be able to contact parents, update them in real time and tackle the problem. This is where the smart school bus monitoring takes place. Students frequently get on the wrong bus which leads them to another direction. Students also, get off on the wrong stops causing their parents to panic by not arriving on exact time and place. Moreover, parents who are not present at home may not know if their child got home or not. In addition to this, drivers could pass the speed limit which may lead to accidents or changing their routes causing the parents to worry. Not to mention that, bus driver does not identify all the students, therefore he could leave one behind. The proposed system works by giving each student an RFID tag that contains student’s information which is accessed by a microcontroller when the student enters the bus and passes an RFID card reader. In addition to this, the system uses GPS technology in order to find the bus speed and geographic coordinates of the location it is currently at and uses GSM to send SMS to parents. Then, parents can access these information through a mobile application and contact the school administration if there’s any discomfort or a problem. School administration also have access to the mobile application to monitor the bus drivers and contact them to obtain student’s safety. Therefore, the proposed system provides real time tracking of buses and provides safety.

    Smart Product Insurance
(October University for Modern Sciences and Arts, 2020) Ashraf, Shady; Zakaria, Ahmed
The insurance business is all about data, with the available amount of data increasing at a high rate. At the same time, with the rise in cloud computing, data storage and processing costs continue to tumble. The ability to apply internal, external, and behavioral data to add value across the insurance lifecycle is what insurers want because the possibilities are endless. Many systems available today, do not offer a complete package to the needs of the growing insurance industry. They are slow, less flexible, inefficient, and error prone, making the claiming process take weeks or months. They have high administrative costs leading to high premiums charges on customers. They also lack being dynamic and contain few varieties in products and personalized services. Our Smart Product Insurance system brings a complete package to the needs of the insurer in that, it will be simple, dynamic, and flexible to the customers and made to specifications of the insurer. This system aims at being able to generate claims instantly and calculate premiums easily, enable addition of new category of products with specific rates by the insurer and give an installment plan in each category as per the insurer’s set up; features not available on the current alternative systems. Designing method of the system is the development of user interface using JavaScript, CSS, and HTML where the user can interact easily with the interface, followed by the integration of the backend using Java and SQL Server. This system unlike the most commonly developed systems will have lots of contributions and outcomes in that; business agility and operational performance will be greatly enhanced; Low administrative cost leading to low premiums to customers; Millions of policies can be grown from the business using a single platform; Testing of new products in the market can be done without inquiring huge IT costs; Easy and quick set up of new insurance products; and lastly, high levels of flexibility in operations.

    Smart Energy Metering
(October University for Modern Sciences and Arts, 2020) Deshish, Amro Mahmoud; Mohamed, Karim Alaa
More than one hundred years ago, our current electric grid came to life. When the need for electricity was primitive and communities had local power generation. Nowadays the demand for electricity exceeds the ability of our systems. To overcome these problems, special forces are being deployed to work on modifying and updating the existing electrical grid to make it more reliable, capable and adaptive to changes. The Smart Energy Metering system is based on an idea of a grid that resembles a network that connects every consumer, supplier, or power source to a network that has a 2-way communication system. This two-way connection where power and data interchange between the utility and its customers. Our project will establish such connection using an Electrical Grid Simulator. Using a software, analysis will be performed on the input data, seeking a pattern in order to meet the targeted balance, which the demanded energy is equal to or less than. Thus, decreasing power outages, minimizing overheated transmitting lines and an overall more reliable electrical grid.
