Abstract
In Real time indoor tracking system, determining the positioning of a user is
one of the major issues. As this project is already implemented in one of the biggest
mall in Egypt (Mall of Egypt), its drawback is that, it shows duplicate position of the
user on the floor map and also this system is not provided in the Egyptian market. In
this report, Real time indoor tracking system using Bluetooth low energy (BLE) is
introduced. Applying the proposed technique for finding the position of user results in
absorbing less power consumption of the user’s device and last long battery life of the
Bluetooth beacons up to two years without charging, generally, comparing with the
real time indoor tracking systems using Wi-Fi technology or Radio frequency
identification technology(RFID).The main functions and algorithms of the proposed
system are achieved based on readings of the device power strength-received signal
strength indication (RSSI), while the system is implemented based on Bluetooth
module and a pic microcontroller with client-server application. It is shown that by
applying the proposed technique with Kalman filtering and unscented Kalman filter to
help reduce the noise and a combination of fingerprinting and sector methods can
determine accurate position of the device.
