Abstract
The goal of this thesis is to simulate the trachea and the airways in the human lungs to
simplify the learning process and the amount of time needed for medical personnel to attain
sufficient experience by having seen many different cases with different trachea shapes,
deformations and cases of tumors in their professional career. The simulation will assist in the
understanding of the effects of deformations and tumors on the airways and air particles. This
could help scientists reach new understandings or have predictions from the data collected
from the simulation by going through different deformations, tumor sizes and tumor positions.
A Trachea model created on blender will be used for the purpose of this simulation. The
Octree algorithm will be implemented to optimize the process of deformation over models
with huge number of vertices, then the deformation algorithm will be implemented to deform
the model however the user wants, and then the air particles should be seen in the simulation
and their positions as they exit the trachea are captured.
