Cement plays a crucial role in meeting societies' demand for real estate and construction materials. In many emerging countries and especially those characterised by an increasing rate of population, consumption of cement will continue. This present case study aims to estimate the pollution load for the cement industry in Egypt using an industrial pollution projection system (IPPS). This estimation will provide an assessment of the effects of industrial pollution in Egypt, and to analyse the market's driving forces and to guide the government with information to priorities its objectives with regard to the competing demands of pollution, growth and development.
