Item Applying Quantum Physics Principles in Contemporary Organizations(Hyperion International Journal of Econophysics and New Economy, 2016) Kahil, M.; Zaazou, ZeinabIn spite of the 18th century age of reason, people can still be very irrational thinkers. A new trend in psychology, though, is using quantum physics to explain our paradoxical thinking. This approach may even work better than classical approaches at explaining how people make decisions when faced with uncertainty and conflict. Accordingly, it is worth mentioning a new scheme of study different from the traditional classical probability theory which is often labeled “irrational”. From this perspective, implementing quantum theory and its application on psychology to examine with how people really behave and how do they make decisions in life and work place. The quantum approach is explaining why people might make choices that may seem contradicting and why do they sometimes take decisions they know are against their own best interests. If you try to understand human behavior in quantum levels, you start to have a better grasp of how human decision-making works. The study is ‘importing’a framework of relative maximum entropy to obtain a skeleton or a template which can function in a variety of unconnected disciplines. This paper introduces a glimpse of applying some of the central insights and ideas of quantum physics to improve and enhance the quality of thinking and learning in strategic planning processes. It also proves through using the quantum physics that the sure-thing principle of Savage (1954) could be violated. Application of quantum concepts in international organizations is presented in this paper, too.Item Arab Spring future challenges: evidence from Egypt(Emerald Insight, 2018) Salman Abdou, Doaa; Zaazou, ZeinabPurpose – This paper aims to shed light on the Egyptian socio-economic and political conditions seven years post the 2011 revolution. Design/methodology/approach – The authors depended on secondary data and information gathered from scholars and from domestic and international institutions as well. Additionally, the authors distributed 390 Likert-scale questionnaires among respondents to test their perceptions regarding the safety, social, political and economic conditions in Egypt seven years post the 2011 revolution. Findings – The research findings confirmed that there was an agreement among participants that the safety conditions in Egypt improved during the past seven years post the 2011 revolution, and there was a general agreement among participants that the political conditions in Egypt became more stable lately. The economic and social cost presents a challenging status to the current decision maker. Practical implications – Finally, authors came up with recommendations aiming to find solutions for certain economic and political problematic issues. The main research limitation is that the representative sample was confined only to the two main governorates in Egypt: Cairo and Giza. Originality/value – Finally, the study is of a value, as it could be considered a road map to policy makers. Moreover, the findings provide a set of policies for governments to undertake tenable actions to accelerate development and economic growth.Item Determining Optimal Locations for Emergency Service Centers with Limited Capacity(October university for modern sciences and Arts MSA, 2023) Hussein Hassan, Emad El-din; Zaazou, ZeinabThe rational management of emergency services centers focuses on two important goals, the optimal positioning of these centers to be able to provide services in the fastest possible way, and the second is to ensure that these centers can provide, with no delay, service to every one upon his/her request, especially in emergency cases when demand on these services are at the peak which means that in urban design it is very important to locate the emergency service centers in a position that satisfy both the two above goals. In fact, several research works concerned with determining the optimum location of the service centers but with a little concern of the limited capacity of each center. This research discusses how to achieve these two goals by treating the problem mathematically. Limitation of the capacity of each center is also a matter of concern. Finally, an effective computer algorithm is provided to illustrate the practical implication of the performed mathematical solution.Item THE EGYPTIAN REVOLUTION AND POST SOCIO-ECONOMIC IMPACT(2013-05) Abdou, Doaa S.; Zaazou, ZeinabThe Egyptian revolution carries a challenging transition phase, starting out with problems such as low foreign direct investments (FDI), a high budget deficit, a high debt rate, a high unemployment rate, a high poverty rate, and a low standard of living. In addition, the budget deficit is expected to rise from 8.1% in 2009/10 close to 10% in 2010/11, as the interim government boosts spending to offset the impact of the political unrest. The temporary supply shortages that followed the upheaval, coupled with rising international prices of food and fuel have been adding to the pressure on the domestic price level since early 2011. Thus the inflation rate is expected to increase from 11.7% in 2009/10 to 13.4% in 2010/11. This paper tries to answer the following questions: How long will the transition period last? What are the drastic impacts on the political/economic conditions (after revolution), and also the social/sociological environment in Egypt? And what about these impacts within the governance framework? What effect does all that have on neighbourhood countries? At last, what are the solutions and remedies that can be suggested to overcome this period and start a new flourishing era? We are aiming to tackle these important topics and examine them through theoretical and descriptive study, hoping to come up with adequate answers and solutions.Item The Influence of Reference Groups on Consumer’s Online Hotel Booking Intentions (A Field Study on the Egyptian Consumer)(openscience, 2018-12) Tawfik, Yasser; Zaazou, ZeinabThe rise of new technologies now-a-days have rapidly increased the numbers of consumers who tend to rely on information about hotel products and services provided by customers who have past experiences in various hotels’ accommodations, indicating the power and persuasiveness of online product reviews. Through a descriptive and empirical study, researchers are mainly investigating the impact of reference groups on consumers’ purchase intentions regarding travelers’ decision-making and hotel bookings. Purchase intention is influenced by a variety of internal and external factors. Researchers are focusing in this study on the external influential aspects, which can include peers, members of the family, opinion leaders, and celebrities, in a manner, building up our reference groups. These reference groups inspire individuals’ tendency toward certain brands or set of products. For example, individuals tend to make purchasing decisions of products/services, which will reflect their belonging group. Results indicated that the online reference groups have an influence on customers’ hotel booking intentions. Results also indicated that the type of online reference groups has a different effect on consumer purchase intentions. Finally, the research verified the usefulness of online reviews and its positive influence on hotel online bookings.
